Gianni Rodari (1920-1980)
Indovinami, indovino,
tu che leggi nel destino:
l’anno nuovo come sarà?
Bello, brutto o metà e metà?
Trovo stampato nei miei libroni
che avrà di certo quattro stagioni,
dodici mesi, ciascuno al suo posto,
un carnevale e un ferragosto,
e il giorno dopo il lunedì
sarà sempre un martedì.
Di più per ora scritto non trovo
nel destino dell’anno nuovo:
per il resto anche quest’anno
sarà come gli uomini lo faranno.
Adivíname, adivinador,
tú que lees el destino:
¿cómo será el Año Nuevo?
¿Bueno, malo o mitad y mitad?
Encuentro impreso en mis libritos
Que seguramente tendrá cuatro estaciones
doce meses, cada uno en su lugar,
un carnaval y un puente de agosto,
y el día después del lunes
será siempre martes.
Más por ahora escrito no encuentro
en el destino del nuevo año
porque el resto este año también
será como los hombres lo harán.
Guess me, guesser,
you who read destiny:
what will the new year be like?
Good, bad or half and half?
I find printed in my little books
That it will surely have four seasons,
twelve months, each in its place,
a carnival and an August bank holiday,
and the day after Monday
Will always be a Tuesday.
More for now written I find not
In the destiny of the new year:
for the rest again this year
Will be as men will do it.
