About Maria Conte

mariaconteMaria Conte is a native Italian speaker and multi-talented instructor based in the Greater Boston area. She comes from a family of bakers and agriculturists, and has been a passionate cook since childhood. As a teenager she enjoyed working in her family’s restaurant in Ponza, Italy. Maria is also a cooking instructor and offers cooking classes to children and adults.

Maria’s academic background and expertise are vast. She received degrees in education from the Institute Mater Divinae Gratiae in Italy, from NEMTEC (New England Montessori Teacher’s Education Center), and is OFC – Director II qualified. Additionally, she also attended courses to be trained in teaching Italian (and other modern languages), to foreigners and as a second language at the “Università per Stranieri di Siena,” and “Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia,” Italy. Further, Maria holds a B.A. in Italian Studies, Spanish and Art from the University of Massachusetts, and an M.A. in Italian Literature and Culture from Boston College. Her teaching credentials and experience also encompass TESOL/TESL/TEFL Teacher Training Certification from Oxford Seminars. Lastly, Maria is certified in Happiness, Wellness and Relationships Coaching, as well as in Psychology and Yoga, from The International Association of Professions Career College. Maria has taught and worked with children and adults for many years in Italy, as well as in the United States, adopting traditional and Montessori’s didactic methods.

Her most recent working background in teaching foreign languages includes Boston Center for Adult Education, Brookline Adult & Community Education, Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Ohrenberger Community Center, Roslindale Community Center, Boston Language Institute, CASIT (Centro Attività Scolastiche Italiane), Boston Public Schools, Boston Public Library, Boston College, I Am Books, UMASS Boston, and tutoring middle, high school as well as college students and professionals.

Currently, Maria is engaged in teaching: Italian, Spanish, ESL, culture, travel, arts & crafts and cooking courses in various schools in Boston and surroundings as well as privately; without excluding her Health and Wellness coaching services. Moreover, she offers translation services, and enjoys the freedom as an independent artist. Lastly, Maria has a warm personality, is very patient and works cooperatively with all.
