Health and Wellness: Being worried

Worry is a mental state of restlessness, uncertainty, fear and anxiety. We worry about the future and that something bad will happen. These are situations that we feel are uncertain, dangerous, and out of control. We worry because we believe that worries help us solve the problems we fear.

Some known symptoms of worry are irritability, muscle tension, headache, tremors, twitching, excessive sweating, flushing, difficulty breathing, insomnia, nausea, increased heart rate, bowel motility, dizziness, to name a few.

What to do to combat excessive worry:

1. Keep calm.

2. Take care of your health and well-being.

3. Manage well what you can control.

4. Try to turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
